Job Summary:
WAGM TV in Presque Isle Maine has an opening in our News department for a News Anchor/Sports Reporter. Primary responsibilities include anchoring our 10 pm newscast, writing, reporting, shooting, editing and conducting live shots for local sporting events. This position requires solid reporting on all types of daily stories with emphasis on accuracy and quality. The position also requires the ability to cover breaking news. Responsible for daily news and sports video shooting and editing. Must be able to work efficiently alone. Must contribute content daily to wagmtv.com and social media.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Shoot, edit and produce the 5:30pm, 6pm and 10 pm Sportscasts, in conjunction with the Sports Director
Shoot, write and edit packages and game video to be used in the daily Sportscasts
Anchor and produce the 10pm Newscast including producing and anchoring Sports Desk.
Anchor the 5:30pm and 6pm sportscast when the Sports Director is on vacation/assignment.
Post stories and updates to station website and social media.
Expected to find compelling stories in the community that reach beyond the traditional sports audience.
Schedule and give live reports live on location for the 6pm sportscast.
Ability to operate and contribute to a team environment.
Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
Computer literacy, including newsroom computer systems.
Ability to research and schedule future stories or features.
College degree in journalism or related field and at least one year experience at a broadcast station preferred.
Position requires a clean driving record and a valid driver's license.
The ability to carry 20 to 30 pounds of equipment.
A general knowledge of the use of television news cameras (P2, Sony, etc.)
A general knowledge of newscast production systems (ENPS, iNews, etc.)
A general knowledge of video editing systems (Edius, Final Cut, Premier, etc.)

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
